Medical Weight Loss Clinic in Wolverhampton

Our Wolverhampton weight loss clinic provides a medically supervised weight management service combining face-to-face clinical assessment with the convenience of online repeat prescription requests.

Our service is designed for people who would like professional support with weight loss and may wish to consider weight loss medicines alongside nutrition and physical activity.

Weight loss medicines that may be considered, where clinically appropriate, include Mounjaro® (tirzepatide), Wegovy® (semaglutide), Orlistat and other licensed weight management treatments.

All medicines are subject to an individual clinical assessment and are only prescribed when considered safe and appropriate by the prescribing clinician.

Your First Weight Loss Appointment in Wolverhampton

Your first appointment will take place face-to-face at our weight loss clinic in Wolverhampton.

The initial consultation usually takes approximately 45–60 minutes. We deliberately allow plenty of time so that you do not feel rushed and have the opportunity to discuss your health, weight-loss goals, previous weight-management attempts, concerns and any questions you may have.

As part of your initial assessment, we will review your medical history, current medicines and other factors that may affect which weight management options are appropriate for you

Your Baseline Health Assessment

During your first appointment, we will carry out a baseline health assessment.

Depending on your individual circumstances, this may include:

• Blood pressure

• Pulse

• Oxygen saturation

• Weight

• Height

• Body Mass Index (BMI)

• Waist measurement

• Body composition measurements

Your body composition assessment can provide additional information about measurements such as body fat, muscle mass, body water and other available body-composition parameters.

This gives us a more complete picture than body weight alone and helps us monitor changes during your weight-loss journey.

Weight Loss Medicines

Following your clinical assessment, weight loss medication may be considered if it is clinically appropriate for you.

Depending on your individual circumstances, treatment options may include once-weekly weight loss injections or oral weight loss medicines.

Medicines we may consider include:

  • Mounjaro® (tirzepatide)

  • Wegovy® (semaglutide)

  • Foundayo (Orforglipron)

  • Orlistat

The decision to prescribe a medicine is made following an individual assessment. Attending a consultation does not guarantee that a particular medicine will be prescribed.

Your First Prescription

If a weight loss medicine is considered appropriate and a prescription is issued, your initial prescription will normally cover approximately four weeks of treatment.

This allows us to assess how you are responding to treatment before deciding whether it is appropriate to continue, adjust or change your treatment.

Your complete initial consultation, including the clinical assessment and issuing of a private prescription where appropriate, costs £20.

The cost of the medicine itself is separate from the consultation fee.

Where Can I Get My Prescription Dispensed?

Once your private prescription has been issued, you can choose where you would like it dispensed.

You can take or send your prescription to a pharmacy of your choice.

Alternatively, we can arrange for your prescription to be sent to Gloucestershire Pharmacy & Clinic, a pharmacy that collaborates with our service.

The dispensing pharmacy will charge separately for the medicine and any applicable dispensing or delivery costs.

Where delivery is available, the medicine can be delivered directly to your home address.

Your 4-Week Follow-Up Appointment

Your first follow-up appointment will normally take place approximately four weeks after starting treatment.

This is an important part of our medical weight management service.

During this appointment, we will review how you are getting on with your treatment, whether you have experienced any side effects, your progress and whether continuing treatment remains appropriate.

You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns.

The appointment will take up to approximately 30 minutes.

The cost of your 4-week follow-up appointment is £10.

What Happens After the First 4 Weeks?

If you are tolerating your medicine and the prescribing clinician considers continued treatment appropriate, a further prescription may be issued.

After the required face-to-face reviews, repeat prescription requests may be completed online where clinically appropriate.

This means that you will not necessarily need to travel to our Wolverhampton clinic every time you require a repeat prescription.

Online repeat prescription requests cost £10.

Prescriptions will only be issued when the prescribing clinician considers continued treatment safe and clinically appropriate.

Ongoing Face-to-Face Weight Loss Reviews

Although parts of the service can be completed remotely, regular face-to-face reviews remain an important part of our approach to safe weight management.

You will normally be asked to attend the Wolverhampton clinic for review:

• At your initial consultation

• At approximately 4 weeks

• At approximately 3 months

• At approximately 6 months

• Annually thereafter

Additional appointments may be recommended if clinically necessary.

This combination of face-to-face monitoring and online repeat prescription requests allows us to provide a convenient service while maintaining appropriate clinical oversight.

More Than Weight Loss Medication

Our Wolverhampton weight loss service is not based on medication alone.

Where appropriate, your weight management programme can also incorporate:

• Nutrition and dietary support

• Physical activity advice

• Personal training

• Weight and BMI monitoring

• Body composition monitoring

• Blood pressure monitoring

• HbA1c testing

• Cholesterol testing

• Ongoing weight management support

Our aim is to help you develop a longer-term approach to weight management rather than simply providing a prescription.

Who Can Use Our Wolverhampton Weight Loss Clinic?

Our clinic is physically based in Wolverhampton and provides face-to-face medical weight management appointments.

We also welcome patients who are willing to travel to our Wolverhampton clinic from elsewhere in the West Midlands or other parts of England.
